Unfortunately, patients often leave clinic with unanswered questions and limited recall of what was said in appointments. Many turn to the internet, where information can be overwhelming, confusing, inconsistent, or inaccurate.
IBDmate is a free digital platform designed to complement your care. It allows you to share with your patients accurate, evidence-based information about their condition and treatment, delivered in a way that’s easy to understand and aligned with NHS standards.
IBDmate is an online library of video and written content, developed and reviewed by healthcare professionals with lived experience and clinical expertise in IBD. It is designed to be clear, concise and easy for patients to revisit in their own time.
Every video and article is reviewed by clinicians to ensure accuracy and consistency with current NHS care pathways. Content is produced in partnership with patients, so that medical information is balanced with lived experience.
IBDmate also signposts patients to other trusted resources such as Crohn’s & Colitis UK, NHS Patient Information Leaflets (PILs), and local service materials.
This helps ensure patients have access to a full range of reliable information and support.
We have created IBDmate for adults, and a completely individual IBDmate for children and young people. In each version of IBDmate there is dedicated content, featuring paediatric and adult healthcare teams, and young patients and adult patients, filmed and written with its specific audience in mind.
Videos and articles about living with IBD as an adult, focussing on the important topic of treatments and medicines.
Age-appropriate videos and articles on a wide range of topics, designed specifically to support children, young people and families.
IBDmate is free for NHS teams and patients, and is easy to implement into daily practice.
Patients are given a unique code that links them directly to the content you’d like them to see. Codes can be issued in appointments or in clinic letters, emails or messages.
IBDmate can also be used to supports parents, carers and family members.
IBDmate helps reduce inequalities in access to trusted IBD information nationwide.
All IBDmate content is created and reviewed by healthcare professionals, with formal governance processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Importantly, IBDmate does not collect or share patient data with hospitals or between hospitals. Patients access the platform directly using a code provided by their team. This means there is no transfer of identifiable data, and local information governance approvals are not required to use IBDmate.
We’d love to work with your team.
