When you’re diagnosed with IBD, it’s easy to feel lost.

There’s so much to take in - symptoms, tests, treatments, and what it all means for you.

Many people turn to the internet for answers, but it can be overwhelming, and information can be confusing, unreliable or out of date. This makes it harder to feel confident about your health and decisions about your care.

We created IBDmate so you don’t have to search for information alone.

IBDmate is here to support you in your learning, with clear, trusted information and real stories from people who’ve been there too.

IBDmate gives you reliable information, explained by experts and shared by people with IBD, so you can feel more confident about your condition and care decisions.

IBD can be complicated - finding good information shouldn’t be.

IBDmate is an online platform designed to help you understand and manage inflammatory bowel disease, designed by patients, for patients. IBDmate is for everyone

IBD doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed - it impacts parents, partners, siblings, friends and colleagues too.

IBDmate is a great resource for the people around you to learn about IBD too, helping them to understand what you’re going through and how best to support you.

For parents and carers

When a child is diagnosed with IBD, it can feel overwhelming for the whole family. Parents often have as many questions as their children, and need support too.

  • Age-appropriate resources - the version of IBDmate for children and young people explains IBD in simple, reassuring ways you can explore together, and features videos of other young patients
  • Guidance for families - practical advice to help you support your child at home, at school and during hospital visits.
  • Shared learning - watch videos together or make notes separately, whatever works best for your family.
